Gained back a good amount in 2 days! The
doctor remeasured Jem and got 19 inches.
That sounds more like it. He did not like
being measured one bit.
I wish we had taken

looked so cute!

Sugar went to the vet the day before and
weighed the exact same!

We had our appointment scheduled for Feb.
14th, Jem's actual 1 month birthday, but
there was a cab stalled on the expressway,
so we were late (we probably would have
been late anyway, just not
as late). When we
got there, they told us that the doctor was
already gone; they said she was always
gone by blah, blah time, but they did not even
check to see if she was still there. Oh well,
my fault. At least I got out of the house AND
we got Jem's 1 month pictures taken.

Horrible appointment due to horrible doctor.
Will not see her
EVER again! She told us that
Jem is gaining weight too fast. What a
TOTAL moron!!

Jem was sent for a chest x-ray and an EKG
due to tachycardia. I haven't heard back
about the results, but I am pretty sure that if
Jem's heartbeat was fast as the "doctor"
claimed, then it was due to him not liking her.

We saw a different doctor and the
appointment went much better than the last
time. We did not get the percentiles, but I will
(hopefully remember to) get them when we
go for Jem's 6 month check-up.

Jem was very brave for his shots; much
braver than his mommy who cried.

This doctor did not have a stellar bedside
manner either, but at least she answered my
questions. I must say, our veterinarians are
much more nurturing and caring than either
pediatrician we have seen. Scary!

Went for PT eval. due to torticollis and
Positional plagiocephaly. Then went to
pediatrician b/c of sudden rash. Rash
should prove to be no biggie: Jem is
correcting the torticollis all on his own, but he
will get some help from the physical
therapist too. She was terrific!

Look at the big
brain on Jem!
Great appointment! Jem is doing fantastic!
He was all smiles and playful at the doctor's
office and took his shots like such a brave
little prince. He cried right after, then forgot all
about it. I am so proud of my precious prince.

Jem is such a flirt. He loves the ladies, big or
small, young or old, fat or thin; he loves them
all.

AWFUL in this

looks cuuute!

Jemmy has been very congested and has
had a cough for a few weeks; this morning
he vomited 3 times, so we went to the doctor.
He has not had a fever above 99.5 (rectally),
but I started to be concerned because Jem
was very uncomfortable last night and the
vomiting made me think that he could get
dehydrated; the cough has been around for
awhile and I thought pneumonia could be a
possibility.

They said that his chest and ears are clear,
so in a nutshell...if he gets a fever bring him
back in. Duh.
Poor sick baby.
He is such a
happy boy, even
when he doesn't
feel good.

So, this morning at 8:30 Jem had a fever of
101.5 at which time I called the Dr. and
made an appointment for 11:30. At 10:30 his
fever was 102.1. I guess his ears weren't as
clear as our fine doctor from yesterday
thought as Jem has an ear infection. Another
dismissive moron at the pediatricians office.
I think I will start taking Jem to our Dog's
veterinarian; she is much nicer and more
caring.

On a more positive note, we saw a male dr.
today and I really like him...so far!

I am pretty certain
that this # is
inaccurate. Not only
is this the same
size that it was at 6
months, but the
tech squished the
measuring tape
quite tight on Jem's
head.
Jem has still been having a fever of 100.2
nearly every night. He has also not been
wanting to eat, which may have contributed
to his being in the 25th %ile in weight.
Additionally, he is still vomiting after eating
milk.

The 10 day course of antibiotics did not work
since Jem now has a double ear infection;
last week it was in only one ear. We started a
new antibiotic today and we will bring him in
again next week to check his ears, the fifth
time in what will be three weeks.

Our doctor is really good, but I have seen 3
other doctors in that practice in the past two
weeks; one of whom was also terrific, the
other two were dismissive, rude, and have
no business being pediatricians.

11/14/08
Last night Jem's fever was 102.9 and 102.8.
I took him to the Dr today and...you guessed
it...double ear infection. The Dr. is calling it
#3, but really it's #2 because the first Rx they
gave us did not work, so the infection never
went away; it just got worse and went from
being (seen) in one ear to both ears.

We were supposed to get Jem's 10 month
pictures taken today, but he just wasn't
feeling up to it. I made sure to take some
pictures to commemorate the milestone.

Jemmy is tall and thin! The doctor says that
Jem is far ahead of other 15 month olds in
language development! This did not surprise
me because his daddy is so smart and his
mommy is so
loquacious.

Jemmy has had diarea since Thursday,
June 11th, which makes this the 7th day that
he has had loose poops. My poor baby's
tushy is so sore. I spoke with the nurse last
week and she gave me suggestions as to
what to feed Jem and she also warned me
that it is going around and could last 7 days.
Being that today is the 7th day, I wanted to
see Jem's dr. Luckily, she was on sick child
call today, Yeah! She sent his poop out for
tests and basically said that he looked good.
I hoping for some firmer poops ASAP!

In waiting room
after Motrin kicked
in. Motrin, Motrin,
yeahhhh Motrin!!!
Jemmy was super cranky last night. He had
no fever and my mom and Mike thought he
was just overtired, which he was, but I knew
that he had an ear infection. Sure enough,
Jem woke up this morning with a fever of
101.8 and visible fluid in his ear. We went in
for same day sick clinic (the new name for
the former "sick call") and waited FOREVER
to see a doctor, but luckily the miracle drug
Motrin kicked in by the time we arrived and
Jem was as happy as a pig in shit..

The doctor we saw looked no older than 18,
but unlike most of the pediatrician's I have
seen, she had a good disposition for
working with kids. One of Jem's ears had so
much stuff in there and the doctor said that
Jem may have a punctured ear drum. I
gasped in horror when she said that, but she
went on to say that it is quite common and
that the Rx will take care of it. Needless to
say, Jem will be home from day care again
tomorrow and no swimming class this
Sunday. I'm going back a week from
Wednesday to make sure the infection is
totally cleared up, before we go back to
swimming class.
After appointment.
Still feelin' the
Motrin.

It's a struggle to
get Jem to take
ANY medicine. If
he only knew that
is why he feels
better, it would
sure help a lot!
